1982-2018

Scott Feller’s unforgettable impact on this world began April 17th 1982. He arrived earlier than expected. From the onset, Scott had made a grand entrance.

He grew up to be a top-notch, all-around athlete who was born with an athletic gift. He loved playing sports, being a coach, a counselor, and a mentor to kids. But it was in baseball where Scott shined the brightest.

Scott batted lefty with a massive swing. “He’s an excellent hitter and a great kid,” said his high school Coach Carm Mazza in an interview his senior year. “He never gets cheated, and he hits the ball hard all the time…it’s a huge bat to replace, and we’re going to miss him.”

In his freshman year at Frostburg State University of Maryland, Scott earned AMCC Rookie of the Year. In 2004, he took home the biggest honor, being named the AMCC Conference Player of the Year. He went 6-14 with five RBIs and three runs scored in the AMCC tournament. He led the team in six of the major offensive categories and ranked in the top three in the AMCC with a .414 batting average, 46 hits, 35 RBIs, 11 doubles, five homeruns, and 74 total bases. This was Scott’s third consecutive All-AMCC selection.

As a First Baseman, Scott made his professional debut in 2007 for Ra’anana Express on the first ever Israeli Baseball League. In 2008 & 2009, Scott played for the Texarkana Gunslingers, an independent minor league baseball team, and was invited to spring training with the Atlantic League, Long Island Ducks.

During his off season Scott loved being with kids. He worked as a Camp Counselor for over 10 years. He was also an Instructor at Baseball City USA, the Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach for North Broward High School in Coconut Creek Florida, and he became the Assistant Baseball Coach at Garrett College in Maryland.

“Scott was the catalyst,” said his college and minor league Coach, Chris McKnight. “He was a force at the plate and a game changer for us.”

Scott’s love for the game, the pure connection he had with all kids, and his hitting expertise inspired a lot of players to reach their goals. Because of this, we know the Miracle League is the perfect fit for The Scott Feller Memorial.

Scott thrived on the field. He had an outgoing and positive attitude that contributed to him being a strong leader his whole life. We know Scott would have whole-heartedly believed in the Miracle League’s mission that “EVERY CHILD DESERVES A CHANCE TO PLAY BASEBALL.” It’s what he lived for, and it’s how he would want us to remember him.
